TO SOLVE SOCIAL AGING ISSUES
Network connects members who engage talented older adults to transform communities
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (May 7, 2018) – The South Florida Institute on Aging (SoFIA), a non-profit “Think & Act Tank” focused on economic and social research, policy and programs to support South Florida’s aging community, has joined the Encore Network, a national network of organizations focused on engaging adults 50+ through proven practices and innovation to turn longer lives into a valuable asset.
“We are pleased to be part of the Encore Network, which encourages collaboration for learning, action and impact and connects organizations dedicated to solving aging issues and creating thriving senior communities throughout the nation,” said SoFIA President and CEO Peter Kaldes, Esq.
The Encore Network connects small and large organizations from different geographies, constituencies and missions through working groups, conference sessions and webinars. The network also promotes member visibility through an online presence, newsletters, social media support and relationships with journalists.
“The partners in the Encore Network are creating and operating innovative programs and will serve as an incredible resource as SoFIA continues to develop services to support South Florida’s aging community that can serve as a national model,” noted Kaldes.
SoFIA also recently named Betsy Werley, director of network expansion at Encore.org, to the non-profit’s new policy council, which further deepens the collaboration between the two organizations.
"SoFIA is a great addition to the Network roster, combining its effective Senior Corps programs with new efforts in the vital areas of technology and caregiving,” said Nancy Peterson, managing vice president, Encore.org.
