Retirement is not “golden” for all older adults. Over 20 million Americans aged 60+ are economically insecure—living at or below the federal poverty level. Moreover, loneliness can be just as lethal as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. SoFIA is disrupting the aging conversation in South Florida with new insights, convenings​, partnerships and inclusive services. Our programs include:

Sofia Tech

Technology can help as we age. Yet access to technology is challenging for many. As an exclusive Cyber Seniors partner in Florida, we teach its award-winning curriculum throughout the community so older adults are able to bridge the digital divide.
 

Sofia fellows

Unemployment amongst older adults is over 30% in Broward. Through our curriculum and internship program, however, the valuable experience of older adults, our Fellows, is being harnessed by area nonprofits to drive change.

Sofia Care

Whether helping with errands, coordinating appointments, or managing care, family caregivers are the backbone of care. But for many, the costs of caregiving are high. SoFIA Care meets the needs with training, rapid response programs, and advocacy.
 

senior corps

Senior Corps is a national network of volunteer programs for people 55 years and older. SoFIA’s volunteers address community needs including academic mentoring, elderly care, and veteran support.
